Employers are hurting as well. There are roughly 11.3 million unemployed individuals. Yet, there are nearly 4 million jobs that are begging to be filled. What's up?
Let's face it, many of the available jobs are lousy choices. Poor pay or poor working conditions. Nevertheless, employers are in dire need to fill these positions.
In many situations, the unemployed work force lacks the needed skills. This is where some unemployed could take charge and go for it. The market place is seeking skilled engineers, IT techs, savvy sales reps, plus those jobs in factories and construction that have advanced technology requirements.
Some unemployed WILL step up their educational efforts and find some great careers.
But here two sad facts.
One, many individuals, for one reason or another, won't be able to take up formal schooling for two to four years. Two, many, many jobs are gone and will never return.
Here is the bright side. Many unemployed will find their way to a more secure financial future through self-employment. Yes, it's risky. But there ARE some real opportunities.
