Freight brokers should be recording and monitoring their shippers', their motor carriers' and their own performance. By creating certain benchmarks and analyzing these over time, freight brokers can eventually focus on those customers and carriers who pass the test, so to speak.
On the flip side, don't you think that your customers are doing to same with you? They may be monitoring your activity to see if YOU pass the test.
Now while you may think that "on time delivery" is one of the most important goals for you to meet, maybe your customer has created their own benchmarks.
How do you think they are measuring your service?
The best way for you to find out if you are meeting your customers' expectations is to develop a close relationship where you can find out how you measure up.
As mentioned above, your customer may have created benchmarks other than what you think they may be.
Let's take "honesty", for example. This could be the most important benchmark that your customer is using to evaluate you and others.
Can you see why this business is all about building relationships?
