CNN reports that there are fewer workers today than there were in January 2009 - that was over 3 1/2 years ago. The actual number is about 400,000 fewer workers. This includes private non-farm workers as well as government workers.
So, just what IS the job outlook? Are jobs going to come roaring back? Are jobs going to trickle back? Only God knows and He hasn't told me. So, this is a big unknown (for me at least). Even with a change in administration, we still don't know what the outcome will be.
There have been some fundamental changes initiated in our economy over the past number of years. Jobs have been disappearing right in front of our eyes. Many people look at what is happening but they don't know the root causes. There is always a set of root causes for any connected result. This topic would call for several volumes of explanation.
The fact is there is one big looming question hanging over each unemployed person's head - "What am I going to do right now?"
The positive things to do are to be optimistic and never, never give up hope. And don't neglect the idea of starting your own business. Freight brokering is one of the least expensive ventures compared to the income potential. It is realistic and it may be for YOU.
