For the past number of months we have had high fuel prices wreak havoc on our economy but more directly on those who depend on driving vehicles for a living.
The extra cost of operating their business cannot be immediately offset by charging more and in many cases cannot be recouped at all. The end result is the death of a business. This is sad.
But financial havoc eventually turns around and what once was going bust now means going boom. Is this what is occurring right now?
Here is why I ask.
I've been reading a lot and some knowledgeable sources have been talking about $80-$85 per barrel crude oil within the next 4-6 months or so. Can this be true?
Now, for those who have been holding off on starting a freight brokerage or any other type of business, can this be the golden time to start their business? Maybe and maybe not. You will find some businesses going belly up even though they got started at the "right time". You will also find other businesses raking in all sorts of money even though they got started when things looked the most bleak.
So what is a person to do?
In my opinion, if you are NOT serious about freight brokering or if you have NOT properly prepared yourself, you might as well pursue something else or put your money in the bank and go fishing (although it doesn't cost all that much to start a freight broker business so you will not have to put that much money in the bank).
BUT, if you ARE serious and you KNOW you want to get into freight brokering soon then you don't want to let the weeds grow around you. You want to act and act fast.
Here is why.
For some people it doesn't matter if it is $120 per barrel crude oil prices or $40 per barrel crude prices or $80 per barrel crude prices. These people are going to prosper no matter what. It's because they have put their mind to it and they have properly prepared themselves.
Two weeks ago I spoke with a recent client, Jack Harris, from Missouri.
He has been in trucking and he knew he needed freight brokering to round out his business venture.
Jack told me that he has moved over 200 loads since his training ended last March - that's about six months. Now, not everyone will achieve this type of immediate success.
But Jack is on a mission. He knows what he wants. He knows how to get prepared. And he had a ton of excellent questions during and after training.
I love to hear stories like this. Can YOU be the next success story? Let us know. Give us a call if you are ready or if you have questions.
